Monthly Beauty Buys From March

Friday, April 17, 2015

Hey Everyone! I’ve got another installment of my Monthly Beauty Buys for you. This one is featuring the products I liked in March. I’ve got another nail polish color that I’m loving, an awesome hydrating face serum, and an eyeshadow palette that has 10 different colors.  So, let’s take a look!

MAYBELLINE THE SMOKES EYESHADOW PALETTE

This is actually an eye shadow palette that I got in my stocking at Christmas, so technically I didn’t buy it in March, but I hadn’t been wearing it up until March because, truthfully, I kind of forgot that I had it…silly! I know!  So it’s kind of like it is new since March! :D This is the Maybelline The Smokes Eyeshadow palette. There is another one called Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow palette, which I also have and like. But this one features a lot of nice cool neutral shadows with a few warm ones. As the name suggests, it is perfect for doing smokey looks from light to dark. The colors have a nice range from black, greys, blues, and purple/plums, so there’s lots to work with for every eye color. If you’re new at trying to get that perfect smokey eye or you’ve never tried it, this Smokes Eyeshadow palette might help you out a bit since it has a bit of a guide included on the back. Just remember that the numbers 1 to 4 indicate lightest color to darkest color for each set of eyeshadow quadrants, and not the position that they are in the palette.

LA ROCHE-POSAY HYDRAPHASE INTENSE SERUM

This 24 Hour Hydraphase Intense Hydrating Serum is by La Roche-Posay and I absolutely love it under my current moisturizer. I actually really love many of the La Roche-Posay products because they are formulated for sensitive skin. My skin isn’t really incredibly sensitive but it does need some special care due to troubles I’ve had with acne. So it just needs some special treatment to keep it as clear as possible and I feel that, due to La Roche-Posay’s sensitive skin formulations, they don’t contain harsh ingredients that could aggravate my skin condition. This is actually a re-purchase for me but I felt worth featuring since I do love it so much! I apply this serum under my face moisturizer (which I featured in my February Monthly Beauty Buys) morning and night. I used to pair it with the Hyrdraphase Intense moisturizers by La Roche-Posay, but I made a switch to that new face moisturizer so I could have something with some added anti-aging benefits, and since my skin is quite dehydrated, this Hydraphase Intense Hydrating Serum really helps add the needed hydration back into my skin.

ESSIE NAIL POLISH - FRENCH AFFAIR

This color! YES! This is an Essie nail polish in French Affair. Yes, another nail polish! :) It’s inevitable that I end up with a nail polish in these posts each month. It’s the one beauty product I can never have enough of…contrary to what Victor thinks. Ha ha! I really LOVE this color. It’s a prefect pretty color for spring, and right through summer. It pairs so nicely with mint or turquoise… really any vibrant pastel color.

So, that's all I've got for you this time. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below this post!

  1. Hi Sam!
I love Essie Polish. However, I like them better from Beauty First, rather than CVS. Do you see a difference??
    Love your posts :)

    1. Hi Sue! I'm so glad you like my blog!

I've not actually gotten my Essie polishes from either of those places - I live in Canada and usually just purchase my Essie from either Shoppers Drug Mart since they carry a lot of colors, have "drug store" makeup brands as well as high end beauty boutiques inside most store locations, and a rewards program, so I love shopping there. Sometimes I get my Essie from Walmart, too, because it is less expensive than Shoppers. But I have never noticed a difference in the quality from either of those 2 places. I'll have to pay attention to that and see if I discover any difference now that you've mentioned it.

Thanks for commenting, have an awesome day!
