DIY Inspirations - Accent Chair

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

This is a project I have been thinking about for a while - not quite a year yet but pretty close to. Victor found this great chair sitting out in the lane behind our place where garbage pick-up is, and he thought it was pretty cool but in rough shape. Once I saw it I knew instantly it could be turned into an amazing piece once re-finished, so he brought it home for me. I know I want to turn it into an accent chair for our living room so I've pulled together some inspirations to inspire me, and hopefully inspire you guys as well in your own accent chair DIY projects. First, let's take a look at the gem of a chair we found in someone's garbage; "One person's trash is another person's treasure"... or it will be...

The chair is in our garage right now--that's why it looks like it's in a garage--because it isn't exactly useable at the moment. We may be moving shortly so, if we do, I hope to make this one of my first DIYs at our new place--we have a lot of project ideas and garage sale-ing to do--if I can find some great deals on materials. Can you visualize this chair in it's re-finished greatness? I like a nice clean and simple base colour scheme with added pops of colour and pattern through accent pieces like chairs, pillows/cushions, rugs, and other decor accessories. Well, here are some accent chair inspirations that I like to help create a mental image (pssst... #1 is Penny's Chair from TBBT). Check out my Kitchen Table & Chairs Re-Finishing Project to see the kitchen set my mom and I re-finished together.
