DIY Anthropologie Inspired Beaded Macrame Bracelet

Monday, August 10, 2015

Hi, Guys! So, over the past few weeks, I’ve learned that I still haven’t gotten any better at mixing my visits home with working on my blog… actually, this visit was probably the worst I’ve done with it. I was there for 3 weeks – the first week was wedding stuff with my friend, the bride, and the rest of the wedding party, the second week my mom and I visited my grandfather for several days, and the third week I was just at home. I did push myself to get a little work done on the video tutorial I have for you today (YAY), but not a whole lot. The plan was to have it up for you all while I was there. Sorry, guys!  I did help my mom with a pretty big project the last week I was home though, and I will be blogging about that project once my mom finishes with the final touches and sends me the photos. :) Now, let’s get to the tutorial!

I found this bracelet by Anthropologie that I really loved and I could tell it looked easy enough to make, and a great idea for a project to share with you all, too. I love finding jewelry that I’m drawn to and making my own version for much less. The Anthropologie bracelet that inspired this DIY tutorial retails for $198!! Yeh, that’s a lot!! To make your own it will cost you about $25 to $30 for supplies. If you’re into making jewelry, you may already have a lot of the supplies to make this bracelet – even better! I’ll show you a couple of additional tips in this post below the video. So, just watch the video and then check out the tips afterwards. ;) But first, let’s look at what you’ll need to for this bracelet tutorial!

THINGS YOU'LL NEED
Large Center Bead
Brass Wire (or gold colored at least)
Gold Seed Beads
Light Warm Brown Hemp Cord (or something similar) – 10lb cord
Crimp Beads (gold color)
Crimp Closure (gold color)
Lobster Clasp (gold color)
Jump Rings (gold color)
Charm (gold color)
Tealight Candle
Scissors

ADDITIONAL TIPS & TRICKS

TIP #1 - String several beads on to your center strings at one time and push them up as you need them to keep momentum, and speed up your progress (see image below).

TIP #2 - Label your little cardboard spools so you don’t forget which side to start with (see image below). I just labeled my right spool with an “R” so I knew that when the “R” spool was on the right, I was starting on the right, and if the “R” spool was on the left, I was starting on the left side. You could also use an “S” for Starting String or whatever you want, really. Anything so you know what side you should be starting with. This will save you the trouble of having to count the amount of knots you’ve made to get back on track if you forget which side you started with last - very helpful if you want to take a break!

So, that’s it for this tutorial! Did you like it? How about saving close to $175 by making your own Anthropologie Inspired Bracelet? I have lots of jewelry tutorial ideas! 1. Thanks! It is a pretty easy one and can be make more fancy depending on the center piece you use! I've worn mine several times since I make it... might make another fancier one myself! ;) Glad you enjoyed it!

    1. Yes, the bracelet arrived when I was home. Very nice! I took a jewelry making/design course when I was in art school, though this project is nothing like the stuff I was making in the course, I just really enjoy it...I enjoy just being creative in so many ways, really! It's tough having so many interests sometimes, ha ha ha! :-D

I'm glad you keep coming back, reading my blog, and leaving me comment! Thanks!
